Electric Brake Break-away system
Most road traffic authorities mandate that trailers fitted with a Break-away system are required to have a monitoring system for the driver to ensure the battery operating the system, is fully charged. Recently RTA inspectors have been carrying out random inspections and issuing defect notices for vehicles not complying with this regulation.
Dean Trailers have chosen to provide, on all trailers with electric brake break-away systems, manufactured after 1st July 2010, a Break Safe Series 6000 unit. This unit will enable the driver to at all times monitor the battery to ensure it is fully charged. The unit includes a test button for checking the system when the trailer is connected and before it is towed.
The Break Safe Series 6000 unit should be installed by an auto electrician in a suitable position determined in conjunction with vehicle owners preference.
Addition of this unit should ensure compliance with regulation and reduce the possibilty of defect notices being applied to the equipment.
